FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be LGBTQ+ or TGNC to work with you?

Not at all. My practice is affirming and identity-centered, and I welcome anyone seeking thoughtful, collaborative support, whatever your identity or reason for reaching out. I do bring particular depth in gender & sexuality, LGBTQ+ wellbeing, and the experiences of trans and gender non-conforming (TGNC) communities.

Who do you work with, and on what?

I work with all ages and groups navigating a wide range of experiences: anxiety, stress and burnout, life transitions, trauma, relationships, self-worth, and questions of identity and self-understanding.

What’s your approach to therapy?

My work is collaborative and relational, grounded in the belief that people are not problems to be solved. I draw on evidence-based and relational approaches (including Self Psychology and my own CARE framework) and pay close attention to the systems and contexts that shape your life, so we can make room for meaning, resilience, and connection.

What happens in a first session?

Our first session is a chance to get to know each other: what’s bringing you in, what you’re hoping for, and whether we’re a good fit. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready to. I’ll answer your questions and we’ll talk about how we might work together.

How do I get started, and do you offer a consultation?

The easiest way is to reach out through ⟨the request form / singerwellness@gmail.com⟩. I offer a free ⟨15–20⟩-minute consultation so you can ask questions and get a feel for working together first.

Are sessions in person or virtual, and who can you see?

I offer sessions via secure telehealth and/or in person in NYC. Because of licensing, I can work with clients located in New York only.

How long and how often are sessions?

Sessions are typically 50 minutes, usually weekly to start. We’ll find a rhythm that fits your needs.

What are your fees, and do you take insurance?

My fee is ⟨$XXX per 50-minute session⟩. I’m an out-of-network / private-pay provider, and I can provide a superbill you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. I hold a limited number of sliding-scale spots, so please ask about availability. You’re also entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of expected costs under the No Surprises Act.

What’s your cancellation policy?

I ask for 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule; sessions cancelled with less notice are charged the full fee.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. What you share is confidential, with a few legal and ethical exceptions, for example if there’s a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or where reporting is required by law. I’ll always walk you through these limits.

What if we’re not the right fit?

Fit matters more than anything. If I’m not the right person, I’ll gladly help point you toward someone who may be a better match. There’s no obligation after a consultation.

What trainings and workshops do you offer?

Affirming, evidence-grounded trainings for schools, caregivers, clinicians, and organizations, from teacher and staff inclusivity trainings and parent/caregiver workshops to clinical education on gender-affirming care and the CARE Framework.

Who are your trainings for?

Educators and school staff, parents and caregivers, clinicians and care teams, and organizations working to build more affirming, inclusive environments.

Can trainings be customized to our school or organization?

Yes. Every engagement is tailored to your audience, goals, and context. I adapt the content, depth, and framing for who’s in the room (clinical depth for staff; warm and reassuring for caregivers).

How does the process work, and how do I book?

It usually starts with a brief discovery conversation about your goals and audience. From there I propose a tailored scope, we confirm the details, and I deliver the session(s), with any follow-up materials or consultation you need. Reach out through the Get Started form to begin.

How are engagements scoped and priced?

Pricing depends on format, length, audience size, and customization. Typical formats include a 60–90 minute workshop, a half- or full-day training, or an ongoing series. I work with a range of budgets and can scope to cost, including reduced rates for under-resourced schools and community organizations.

Are trainings virtual or in person?

Both. Virtual anywhere, and in person in the NYC area / travel by arrangement.

Do you offer ongoing consultation?

Yes. Beyond one-time trainings, I offer ongoing consultation for organizations and clinical consultation for clinicians doing affirming work.
